Whoever visits Armenia he should be at wonderful Sevan otherwise he will have incomplete imagination about our country.
It is amazing that during summer heats, when the baking sun makes the apricot, peach and grapes sweet, when the soil ճաքճքում է, where each water drop costs more expensive than gold, in the embrace of mountains, 1900m high from the world ocean so much sweet water is accumulated.
      There are thousands of lakes in the world, but their existence doesn’t surprise people, as the favorable climate, heavy precipitations and low evaporation promote their creation and existence. Of course, there are lakes also in the dry climatic lengths, but they are mainly salty lakes.
      Sevan is something different. It really is considered to be the wonder of the nature. Isn’t it really a wonder that in the waterless subtropical region, where there is no rain for months, and there, in the middle of the round dance of the mountains the nature has carefully hidden 58billion cub.m water which is sweet and as clear as the crystal? The surface of the water mirror is 1250sq.m, the longest part is 75km, the widest part is 58km, the average width is 19km, the depth is 82m, and the pool for water accumulation is 3.5 times bigger than the lake itself. This is a rare case, e.g. the water accumulation pool of the famous Bowden lake in Europe is bigger from the lake 23 times, and the Baikal pool is 14 times bigger than the lake is.   The absolute unique sun radiant   lasts    2700hours. This is another component of the wonder and it is a good condition to become a recreation zone. There are 20 boarding houses, 8 rest-homes, 2 tour bases, hotels, motels, children’s health centers, sanatoriums. Sevan national park operates since 1977.       
      Sevan has been and remains the pearl of Caucasus, specifically of Armenia.  It is waiting for each visitor who appreciates the wonders of nature. After passing totally 50 km road, having a short rest at Selim Caravansary of medieval, passing the mountain pass you will see the wonderful panorama of Sevan.
